We are supporting Resolution - first for family law and this year's GoodDivorceWeek (28 Nov - 2 Dec) highlighting the crisis in the courts and raising awareness of how families can resolve their disputes away from court.
A ‘good’ divorce is one in which any financial and/or child related matters are fairy resolved between parties, with the hope of remaining amicable in the future.
Our consultant solicitor, Deborah Schmieder is a family law specialist and member of Resolution and can provide empathetic and professional legal advice during the breakdown of a relationship recognising that this is a stressful and emotional time for all parties and families.
Engaging with a family lawyer early can save time, money and emotional turmoil in the future.
Alternatives to Court include:
Mediation – A mediator will meet with you and your partner together and will identify those issues you can’t agree on and help you to try and reach agreement.
Mediators are neutral and will not take sides, so they cannot give advice to either of you. They will usually recommend that you obtain legal advice alongside the mediation process and will guide you as to when this should happen
Collaborative Practice – Under the collaborative process, each person appoints their own collaboratively trained lawyer and you and your respective lawyers all meet together to work things out face to face. Both of you will have your lawyer by your side throughout the process and so you will have their support and legal advice as you go.
Arbitration – In family arbitration you and your partner appoint an arbitrator, who will make a decision that will be final and binding between the parties, on any financial and property disputes or some child-related issues arising from family relationships
Our aim is to offer our clients a "good divorce experience", whatever time of the year.

We are a small friendly practice that has, throughout lockdown and beyond, continued to provide an exceptional standard of customer service. We wish to maintain this standard by offering face to face meetings where required. Clearly, should our staff succumb to Covid-19 it will have a catastrophic effect upon all including the service that we provide to our clients.
We therefore reserve the right to withdraw this "face to face" Consulting Room service without notice should we believe that there is a heightened risk of infection via Covid-19 to our clients, visitors, colleagues or families.
Of paramount importance to us is the health and safety of all.
Remote "Face to face" meetings
We continue to offer "face to face" meetings remotely using a variety of platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype and Facetime.
During lock-down there has been an unprecedented rise in the use of these platforms to connect and keep in touch with families, friends and work colleagues and so you may well have a preference for a particular platform. If so, then please let us know. If there is a method of communication which we have not mentioned that you wish us to use then let us know and we should be able to accommodate your request.
We can also accommodate meetings with multiple parties too, as a group "remote" meeting.
We will be pleased if you can continue to use these email addresses to contact us with any queries you may have:
